I took part in a long time ago in Central Scotland against the late

the Fide Elo rating system wasnt even in existance when players like
Alekhine,Euwe,Capablanca gave simuls
if you wanted to play on a board you coughed up your money and sat down to play
i can just see Capa looking up at a player that managed to survive the opening
against him with a decent position and then grilling the player as to his
previous chess tournament and match record
then if Capa felt the player was too strong..he resets the pieces to the
starting position
rediculous
even more sad actually,is that Kasparov was actually considered Classy for doing
this by some of the readers of these pages

a sign of the times i guess..
maybe thats why i collect old dedicated chess computers
i guess i pine for the more sportmans like and chivalrous days gone by..

Nostalgic Regards
Steve
