Go up one level in this thread

I posted this other places, but unfortunately most other places produce extremely biased or ignorant respondents. Where would you have suggested that I post this question instead? If I post to a C++ board, of course everyone will say there's no use for C anymore. If I post to a C board, of course everyone will say C is still a great choice to start new projects with. If I post to a general programming languages board, you probably get both the C++ and C zealots which degenerates into a religious war. I tried a game programming website and that quickly turned into stupidity with many immature/ignorant posters, C/C++ zealots, and people who think you're just trying to cause trouble. This place seemed like the best place to ask the question. People are very knowledgable here, overall people are much more mature than a lot of other boards, and here there is no reason to advance one's personal agenda of promoting C/C++ as better than the other. I think the programming language discussions are far fewer than the hardware threads that go on for months and become at least as off topic as this thread. To me this is very on topic, because it has to do with my chess program, and whether I should consider C or not.
