Undoubtedly, hardware threads are easily as annoying and extensive as the one
you've started. That, however, isn't an excuse. The problem isn't abolishing
off-topic threads in general, but hold them up to the same standard. Computer
issues seems to have more leeway. They continue on end with thinly disguised
personal attacks and agendas (hardware) or until it permutates into nerdville
(programming languages). Some debate is okay, neverending story isn't.

That may be. But you didn't actually mention anything about your chess program
in the original message, eg. "What is the best programming language for computer
chess?" (already done before IIRC), nor is it clear that you are working on a
program.

I'm sure that there are equally "unbiased" boards available. If not, start one
or ask some of the experts through e-mail.
