I let Hiarcs 8 have a look at the two positions with my 733MHz PIII: Noting H8 cleanly avoids Bf2 in the original position: [d] 2r2rk1/p3ppbp/6p1/8/8/QPqBBP2/P1P3PP/2KR3R w - - 0 20 Summary analysis by Hiarcs 8: 1.Rhe1 Rfd8 2.Bd4 Bxd4 3.Qxe7 Qb2+ 4.Kd2 Bc3+ 5.Ke2 Bxe1 6.Kxe1 Qxa2 µ (-0.75) Depth: 6/25 00:00:04 266kN 1.Qxe7 Rfd8 2.Qe4 Qb2+ 3.Kd2 Qxc2+ 4.Ke1 Bc3+ 5.Bd2 Rxd3 6.Qe2 ³ (-0.70) Depth: 8/29 00:00:29 2558kN 1.Qa4 Rfd8 2.b4 Rxd3 3.Rxd3 Qa1+ 4.Kd2 Qxh1 5.g4 Qxh2+ 6.Kd1 Qg2 7.Bxa7 = (-0.01) Depth: 8/29 00:01:34 7816kN 1.Rhf1 Rfd8 = (-0.25) Depth: 10/33 00:03:09 15701kN Analysis of the second position showing H8 does eventually find something other than gxf5: [d]1r3rk1/p3ppbp/2q3p1/5B2/8/QP2BP2/P1P3PP/2KR3R b - - 0 18 Summary analysis by Hiarcs 8: 1...gxf5 2.Rd3 Qf6 3.Rhd1 Qa1+ 4.Kd2 Qe5 5.h3 a5 ± (1.16) Depth: 9/33 00:02:04 9161kN 1...Qc3 2.Qc5 Qb2+ 3.Kd2 gxf5 4.Rc1 Qxa2 5.Qxa7 Qb2 6.Qxe7 Rxb3 ± (0.88) Depth: 9/33 00:02:47 12715kN 1...Qc3 2.Qc5 Qb2+ 3.Kd2 gxf5 4.Qxf5 Qxa2 5.Bc5 Rxb3 6.Bxe7 Re8 7.Qg5 ± (0.73) Depth: 10/33 00:03:47 17487kN Regards, BK
