Hi all, finally I had the time to update my chess-computer tournament again. What's new...83.815 games in total, about 30 new engines, a few new CM personalities (although the eng and CMP files are not all uploaded yet); now over 770 engine versions. On the top, we see not much new. Deep Fritz 7 could keep the lead, although we saw several new "improved" versions of Fritz. Chess Tiger 15 is the big dissapointment in this tournament. It scored significantly lower than the previous version. In contrast, the new Junior made a good entry. After long waiting we see also a Rebel windows version, which proved to be very strong, although rebel can't fully compete with Fritz and Chess Tiger yet (well, it's still beta). Other observations: Crafty is alive again. Lately, we see not so many new Chessmaster personalities anymore. It seems as if have reached the peak in improvements. I recommend CM9000 M2v5 and CM 9000 Grailmaster7 for Blitz and Rapid games; for long games I would use CM9000 SKR or Grailmaster7. Finally, after years on ICC we have Postmodernist freely available. It made a promosing start. The best newcomer, however, was Slowchess, which is not slow at all. I'm not sure if there is another engine, which makes the same nodes per second as this new engine. Other very good entries: Tytan and Dorky. Just have a look :-) http://www.grailmaster.com/misc/chess/comp/compindex.html
