Peter Look at my post"Question node per second" Your question made me think, and I came to the conclusion that checking each move for incheck while it is being generated wastes a tremoundous amount of time In a four ply search, I call incheck 487 thousand times, when in fact there may only be 2 or 3 moves that would place a king in check. Thus it makes sinse to look for incheck at each ply when you are goning to try to make the move before going to the next ply. If it is incheck then just get the next move. I had never thought about it until you posed the question. Thanks for the info: Bill
