I also had Rebel 7,8, and 9. I had no problem until I upped to 64MB of ram.
Booting through Windows95 worked fine. Only if I tried booting through pure Dos
did I encounter problems. I don't know why, but Rebel doesn't seem to like lots
of ram when playing through Dos. I found that booting through Windows worked
great, but then it should have been a Windows program.
