 First of all. The Nxe6 sacrifice isn't winning. It's a very promising move and
theory. Blacks Qe7 is considered inferior to taking the knight directly AFAIK.
The king is actually safer on e7.
 Secondly computers with speculative evaluation, i.e. most any program, do
sacrifice fairly often. Take the latest Kasparov-Deep Junior match for example.
Where Junior sacrificed a piece for initiative and king safety.
