the quad opterons called 846 are more than 2 times more expensive than the dual
capable opterons which are called 246 in this case.

officially the 846 goes up to 8 processors but i am not sure whether we will see
8 processor opteron machines to get sold. let's sit and wait i bet for now they
will just keep in 'beta' forever.

that's all dual stuff.

quad is way way more expensive usually. let's sit and wait for mainboard prizes
of quads too. also you'll need bigger power supplies and hotswappable stuff and
big aluminium stuff for quads.

quads really are more than 2 times more expensive than duals :)
