I don't understand where you get your specdata from. According to spec.org it looks like this: SPECint 2000 uni processor: Xeon 3.06 GHz. 1294 Opteron 1800 Mhz. 1170 Athlon XP 2200+ 1080 SPECint rate2000 dual processor: Xeon 3066 MHz. 1Mb. 27.1 Opteron 1800 MHz. 26.8 Athlon MP 2600+ 15.7 The runtime for Crafty on 2 CPU's is: Xeon 3.06 1Mb. 85 Opteron 1800 MHz. 81.2 Athlon MP 2600+ 84.5 So according to spec.org there is hardly any difference for Crafty between the Xeon, Opteron and Athlon-MP. The dual MP platform scores very badly in the total spec suite, but this is mainly due to it's bad memory architecture. Chessprograms don't seem to suffer much from it.
