Often, there is some limit.  For instance, there are database systems that
memory map the database file, which will give you a limit between 1 and 7
gigabytes (depending on what version of the OS you have).  There are also
practical limits as far as some maintenance operations.

You might check the product manual.  If you can't find it there, call the
technical support for the tool vendor.
