i recently had exactly this type of ending; Q v N+fgh-pawns; luckily i was on
the side with the queen. in my game, the pawns were even further back, and it
was an easy win for me. however, i don't agree with some of the replies to your
post; this is not as clear as some people claim. e.g. by giving black a bit
further advancement it looks like a draw?!:

[D]8/Q7/8/5nk1/5ppp/8/5K2/8 w - -

uri's argument of 3+3*1 < 9 is far too simplistic, in endgames against a lone
queen the question is whether you can construct a fortress like

[D]7k/Q5b1/8/4nK2/8/8/8/8 w - -
a famous one - draw!

or
[D]8/Q5pk/7r/5K2/8/8/8/8 w - -
another classic: draw!
