Lets see now. Maybe Ed has sold a thousand copies. Of that amount maybe 750 are still in the hands of his Dealers. They will just return them if he does not give them a refund for the difference. (He most certainly will of course since his dealers will tell him what he can do with them if he does not). That leaves maybe 250 or maybe even twice that number. The refund to his customers would be 50 * 250 $12,500.00 to $25,000.00 Thats a fair sum but he could of course, issue cerificates of some kind. That would cut it by a factor of 5 or so. But in any case the $25,000 saving is already being rapidly disbursed by bad publicity. Those who are going to buy chess software will hear about this. The dealers will point customers to other products. The rest of his competitors will make subtle hay from this. Ed's detractors, and there are some around, will make sure this comes up over and over and over again for the forseeable future. Poor Ed. He tried to save a nickel and looses his shirt. Don Gerue
