Subject: Chess PRogram Improovment

 What percentage of the time does rewriting a top chess program take compared to
reevaluating the paramenters (weights such as King safety, passed pwans, etc ...
)?

 Is there a trend in a way that future versions of these programs will
 have hundreds of parameters which could be changed and we will eventually see
 an increase every year in the percentage of time for parameter estimation, or
 there will always be a significant portion of time spent in rewriting the main
algorithm that will never be substituted by parameter estimation ?
