I had downloaded the demo and it worked fine. My kids enjoyed the adventure mode very much. I purchased the game and installed it on my (older) computer that ran the demo fine and I get the following MAJESTIC CHESS ADVENTURE LOG 1.1.0.3 version 4.90 (Build 3000) Service Pack 0.0 Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition DirectX Version = DirectX 8.1 or better installed [UPDATESCALE] description = update scale on display init screen H = 1024 Screen W = 768 clientarea w = 1024 h = 787 [D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT] Width = 1024 Height = 768 RefreshRate = 0 Format = 22 [D3D Adapter] Description: Intel(r) 82810 Graphics Controller 4.12.01.2604 Driver: i81xDD.DLL [D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS] D3DSWAPEFFECT_DISCARD = 1 BackBufferWidth = 1024 BackBufferHeight = 768 BackBufferFormat = 22 BackBufferCount = 1 MultiSampleType = 0 Windowed = 0 FullScreen_RefreshRateInHz = 0 FullScreen_PresentationInterval = 0 [IsCompressedTextureFormatOk] D3DFMT_DXT1 = 0 D3DFMT_DXT5 = 0 [D3DCAPS8] DeviceType = 1 [Hardware Shaders] Pixel Shader Version: 0.0 Vertex Shader Version: 0.0 Software texture & lighting CreateDevice failed, multisample level set to minimum, giving up... I managed to get the key to work just punching it in but when the game starts the same thing happens, any text is unreadable as it just keeps scrolling. Any ideas? Thanks, D. Perrin P.S. I did manage to get the pocket pc version to work, very interesting.
