I did manage to get the pocket pc version to work, very interesting. I have discovered (thanks to the help of another user who was experiencing the same problem that you are having on your computer) a temporary workaround that will allow you to play the game until a formal patch is created. In your Majestic Chess installation folder, there is a subfolder called "res". In this folder, there is a filed called "User.INI". Edit this file and look for the "3Dsettings" section. In that section, there will be a line that says "32bit_color=1". Change this to read "32bit_color=0", and the program should start fine. We are hopefully going to have a fix for your sons' computers soon, and we apologize for the inconvenience. jm
