Subject: How to use a test suite to evaluate program strength?

Hello all,

I am sorry if this question has been answered before, but....

I would like to evaluate the strength of several of my PC programs on a new
computer that I am getting. It's a real powerhouse - 386/20, 4 M RAM. Anyway, I
assume there is some "rough" relationship between the number of positions solved
correctly in a particular test suite (at x minutes/move), and ELO.

Thus:
1. Which test suite(s) should I be using?
2. What setting should I be using for min/move?
3. What is the relationship between % corect and ELO or USCF rating?

I am doing this just to satisfy my curiosity - so I just want some ball park
numbers. A web page link would be nice, if you have it...

Thanks for your time!
Bob P.

BTW, I see that maro's site (referred to in previous post) has a number of test
suites.
