Subject: Letter of protest

Author: Moritz Berger

Date: 15:39:28 10/31/98

I formally and in public want to protest against Bruce Moreland as a moderator
of this place (CCC) making statements about me in several places (r.g.c.c., CCC
and email to 3rd parties).

The most recent example was on r.g.c.c., a place where I do not post any more
because I am simply fed up with the daily routine of venom, personal insults and
gutter language that would inevitably be directed at every statement I made
there (not by Bruce but by the well know 3-4 newsgroup stalkers on r.g.c.c.).

Now Bruce posted the following statement on r.g.c.c. (topic was the alleged
"ban" of Chris Whittington from CCC, the topic is sadly typical for the cultural
decline on r.g.c.c., my comments are surrounded by square brackets []):

From: brucemo@seanet.com (bruce moreland)

[ snip of things Bruce quoted ]

>I think that this whole thing was a disaster. I saw Moritz make a
>reference to your departure from CCC, and as a current moderator I
>felt I need clarification, so I asked him to clarify (CCC 28213.txt).

[ unfortunately this message is no longer on the CCC board, I had to dig it out
from the September archive.

I was the only one who cared to help answering questions Bruce posed here in
public about what exactly happened to CW; now he thanks me by first talking
about "disaster" and next mentioning my name.]

>Meaning, if you aren't banned there, and asked to leave voluntarily,
>then why shouldn't I simply let you come back?
>
>I got back a response from Moritz (CCC 28218.txt), which appears to
>have not been responded to by anyone else who could have had anything
>to do with your banning, which stated, to paraphrase:
>
>1) A yellow card for doing whatever, at whatever point in time. From
>what I've been able to put together this really happened.

[
I don't like that tone; it sounds as if it was questionable that something I
said "really happened".
]

>2) A red card for giving your password to Rolf, which there is no
>evidence that he actually used, as far as I know. I believe that this
>second card was manufactured sometime between when I asked about it
>and when I was answered. I think this is lame.

[Here's what I really wrote (not paraphrased and distorted by Bruce):

<begin quote>
So since Chris
a) has not been banned
b) has no account under his own name (because we deleted it upon his request)

the question is: Would he be granted a new account if he asked for one?

Since after he got a yellow card he sent Rolf Tueschen his password for another
"Puff the magic dragon" account, this is in my opinion a "red card" offense and
he could only get back in on the grounds of a general recovery rule which had to
apply also e.g. to Sean Evans and his Grandpa.
<end quote>

Please note that the paraphrased version is not shorter than the original; it
just contains completely different statements about the "red card" issue:

It is *my opinion* (my very own, personal opinion, belonging only to me, Moritz,
having no consequences at all one the general policies of CCC or any other
place) that giving one's password for CCC away to support "convicted" abusers
should be treated as a "red card" offense, meaning immediate removal of the
offenders account.

Bruce now writes about "manufactured", "lame", and the completely irrelevant
issue if the password was actually used by a 3rd party. I will *not* paraphrase
what Bruce wrote, his words speak for themselves (as do mine).

The only intention I see in his post on r.g.c.c. is to discredit me in a place
where I cannot defend myself.
]

>I don't know why the guys who threw you out of CCC won't just say that
>they threw you out of CCC. I think they threw you out of CCC because
>they were fed up with dealing with you and wanted to hurt you, I
>think it was a personal thing rather than an effort to protect CCC
>from an abuser.

[
The dynamic duo of Whittington and Moreland proudly presents: The true story
about dozens of well documented abuses by Whittington, several emailed
complaints by CCC members about Whittington ("double standards" to keep him in),
hundreds of emails over several months how to keep Whittington on CCC and still
have a moderated board without abusers, ...
]

>I don't care to make any further attempt to undo this, since I think
>that you have been responsible for additional abuse in CCC, under a
>different name.
>
>bruce

At least you finally concede that this has taken place.

My demand is as follows: I herewith kindly ask Bruce Moreland to CEASE AND
DESIST any further use of my name (MORITZ BERGER) in connection with his
personal opinions or personal beliefs or speculations or whatever IN HIS ROLE AS
A MODERATOR OF CCC or in discussions about CCC policies WITHOUT A DISCLAIMER
that he is speaking only for himself and not as a moderator of CCC. If he makes
it clear that he wants to get at me for his very own, personal reasons (which I
know nothing about), then of course he might say whatever he wants about me in
every place suitable for this kind of statements.

Thanks for your patience

Moritz
