Dear Komputer Korner,
My most sincere apologies for the confusion that I may have caused by listing
Marty Hirsh as my only example of a program writer. If you re-read my post, you
can see that I was only using Marty as one example of the many good
(excellent!!) chess programers (at least, that was my intent). I don't want to
see any of these guys stop writing and improving their respective chess
programs! I don't believe that Mr. Hirsch has anything to do with CM 6000. He
is -- of course -- the man responsible for bringing us the excellent M-Chess
program. My intent was to thank the programers of all of the excellent programs
out there that I have used -- M-Chess is just currently my personal favorite.
To use Marty's name alone where I did may have caused some confusion. If I can
"takeback" that one move, I would like to thank: Mindscape, for CM 6000 -- Marty
Hirsch, for M-Chess, Richard Lang for ChessGenius, Mark Uniacke & David Hatchett
for Hiarcs, The boys over at ChessBase (names unknown to me) for Fritz.
Convekta Ltd. for Chess Assistant and finally, a special thanks to Mike Leahy
and FM Chuck Schulien at BOOKUP for the program that has helped me to learn more
about playing better chess than any other program. Counting all of the upgrades
from one program to the next, I have more than a dozen of these programs and all
of them get better with each upgrade. I am certain that the other professional
programs that you gentlemen write about every day are wonderful programs and I
hope to purchase a couple more of the top programs as soon as I can. I purchase
a lot of this software when I can afford it! Many thanks to you guys that make
this site possible -- Thanks for reading, Kevin Mulloy
