Perhaps it might be overwhelming for a 5 year old or under - but it's clearly targeted for the 10-17 year old IMO and I think most kids would enjoy the adventure aspect of the game - even if they could care less about chess. Of course, you have a right to your own opinion and you may choose how to spend your dollars anyway you choose. However, I think your opinion would be in the minority. The full game installed on my machine without any problems at all and it does run in a window, if that is your preference.
