Hey Ross, If you use a pawn structure hash table, then a very small table works exceptionally well. 1-2 Meg works great for me -> (99% hit rate). Can't say much for the speedup, since I dont really have much of a pawn structure evaluation yet! From memory, it was around 5-10% though obviously YMMV. Joel
