And even today, it is an unusual and very beautiful mate! Thanks for
sharing it. To me it was far from trivial, although my program solved

It seems so. Gothmog 0.3.0, one of the slowest chess engines in the known
universe, finds the right move after 1.01 seconds on a Pentium 4 2.4GHz,
reports a mate in at most 12 moves after 2.08 seconds, and finally pushes
this down to mate in 9 moves after 3.50 seconds (at ply 6):
