6a) Go to local community college and spend a year learning how to properly
install, secure, and administrate linux.

OR...

6b) Wait about a day before something breaks or you get hacked because you don't
know how to use linux. Post on message boards asking for help, only to receive
massive flaming and "RTFM!" posts. Goto 6a.

Linux isn't really for home users, yet, IMO.

I use Windows almost all of the time at home, because I like to be able to use
my computer while I'm at home, not spend hours each night trying to fix
something or get it to do what Windows does without any extra work.

At work it is a completely different story. I work part time at a library while
I go to school, and even in this relatively non-computer environment I wish
everyday that we used unix instead of windows.

Everyday we have several new emails: "server is down", "rebooting server",
"server back up", "server down again". We have computers that the public uses to
surf the net, write their resumes, or whatever. You wouldn't believe how many
problems we have with people. We have to call the police about once a month
because someone won't get off the computer after their time slot is up, or two
people get into a fist fight over a computer, or some other wild story.

If we had unix, there woudln't be individual computers (just dumb terminals),
and we could just kick people off the system, ban people, and shut down ONE
computer at night when it's time to go home instead of having to beg people to
get off a dozen computers.
