Subject: Scarcity of Computer Chess Books

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has got any pointers on where to find some interesting
computer chess books ?
Chess books that cover the internals of how chess programs work, the various
techniques and principles, source code etc.
I was thinking primarily of a book that is aimed at the novice to intermediate
player/programmer.
I have only found a couple of books that fell into that category, both of these
were by David Levy, they were interesing reads but both out of print now and a
little dated.

I know this topic is a very niche area and not likely to be very profitable but
looking around my local bookstores I could barely find anything on chess at all,
tons of books on crosswords, scrabble card games etc. I found this really
surprising.

Just on the off chance Bob Hyatt is reading this, have you ever considered
writing a Computer Chess book ? I am sure it would be a very interesting read
with your wealth of knowledge and experience. I guess the stumbling blocks would
be getting a publisher and the sheer amount of work involved.

Maybe you could collaborate with Vincent on writing it, on second thoughts that
probably wouldn't work :-)

I would write one myself, but the minor technicalities of needing another 20
years experience and about ten times more ability is a bit of a hindrance ;-)

         Regards Geoff
