GCP already answered it correctly. I wonder - which GUI where you using?

I find it convenient, to use "console mode" for testing positions posted here.
Just start yace without GUI, copy the FEN to the clipboard, type at the yace
prompt

setb [followed by space]

then copy the FEN, type <ENTER> and

ana <ENTER>

When you saw enough type either exit <ENTER> (Yace will be ready for more
setboards) or quit <ENTER> (q <ENTER> would also be enough) to finish. Mate
scores will be shown in human readable manner.

The Winboard protocol does not define, how to express mate scores. So, there is
not much the engine can do, here. Many engines use 2^^15 - plies_to_mate or
30000 - plies_to_mate as centipawns. Earlier, Yace used the latter method, but
(for example) the Chesspartner GUI did not understand it. So I switched to the
2^^15.

Are there any WB engines, that will show mate scores correctly under your GUI?

Dieter
