Welcome to the board! As for Chessmaster 9000, it is one of the strongest programs you can buy. It is definitely "top tier", along with Fritz, Shredder, Junior, Chess Tiger, Rebel and HIARCS. The Chessmaster personality, along with all the Grandmaster personalities, is MUCH MUCH STRONGER than the 1600-1700 personalities that you have been playing. I would venture to say that you are a VERY GOOD player if you can beat Chessmaster even ONCE. But keep practicing, and it could happen! jm
