The only way to crack these ones is through ingenuity in Web searching; usually
the publisher can eventually be tracked down and, somewhere on their site, there
will be a better description of their program than Amazon gives with the engine
(and version) used.

In my experience good but old programs tend to keep their name somewhere in the
new name; for example, there are various incarnations of Fritz still around and
"Virtual Chess 2" is precisely that.

Anything else is invariably worthless and "celebrity" endorsements are barely
worth bothering with; these days I think Kasparov would put his name on sausages
if he had the chance ...
