It seem like you didn't play against it.
I bought it in the floppy format first in 1995 and it was quite strong on a
486. It is base in the Socrates Chess Program which was at that time
experimenting with special heuristics. I later found a CD which came with
Kasparov Gambit & a Bridge playing program. This had a patch already in the
CD correcting some video issues.
I can bet you that it will beat you if you run it in a modern PC.

Only thing to do is install Win95 or above as a secondary operating system.
Then you will have a dual boot system and can initialize with XP or Win 95
at your will.

Positionally is not the main strenght of chess software in general.
