I would would suggest Shredder 7. Any my reasons are as follows. 1. Rated #1 in strength 2. SMP program that is half the cost of the other SMP programs. 3. The ability to learn as it plays. 4. The huge flexibility to change the playing style and create personalities. 5. UCI engine Not one of my 5 reasons has anything to do with or support ChessBase. My second program and almost a tie with Shredder would be ChessMaster 9000. Very strong program with the best GUI interface.
