They are two different engines. The Shredder 7.04 UCI engine does not come on the Shredder 7 CD. You have to download from the Chessbase site and install it. (1) Even if you don't want to use it, I suggest that you first install the Classic Shredder 6 GUI from the Shredder 7 CD. It's not automatic. You have to look for it on the CD. [Maybe this isn't necessary, but I think it's best. Who knows exactly what causes CD Check requests? If you want to avoid them, then you'd best dot all the i's and cross all the t's.] (2) Then download the Shredder 7.04 UCI engine setup file from the Chessbase site and run it. (3) If you have accepted all of the defaults when installing everything from Chessbase (highly advisable!), that will extract the 7.04 engine in a folder at c:\program files\chessbase\shredder6 classic (4) Now you can install it either in the Classic Shredder 6 GUI, or in the Shredder 7 Chessbase GUI. In both cases you will be required to insert your Shredder 7 CD for a "CD Check". Unless you have an original, legally purchased Shredder 7 CD, you won't be able to install or use the Shredder 7.04 UCI engine. (5) To install it in the Chessbase Shredder 7 GUI... In the Engine menu click Create UCI Engine and follow the instructions. When asked, point it at the above folder. (6) To install it in the Classic Shredder 6 GUI... In the Extras menu click Engines, Install Engine and follow the instructions. When asked, point it at the above folder. WP
