Keeping track of the NPS is one way to see just how much faster you program runs
with any modification that you may make. A small increase may not sound like
much under some circumstances but as fewer pieces are on the board you program
may be able find a better move with the increase and if your program 'thinks'
while waiting for its opponent to move it might make a bigger difference.
There are two things that most programmers are always trying to impove, one is
speed and the other is their evaluations.
