hi Frank
"way to go" only if one is interested merely in playing strength
however as a collector of dedicated chess computers playing strength has little
if any importance to me

the strongest dedicated units are stronger then most human players except of
course GM'S and perhaps IM's

personally it makes no sense to me to keep buying the new pc chess playing
programs when it is impossible to beat even the ones released 5-8 years ago
additionally i have no interest, nor do i see the point in pitting one program
against the next
i am not sure exactly what importance we should place on knowing which program
is the strongest against another program

human vs.computer play is somewhat interesting but of course Kasparov has turned
that sport into a mockery(with his non-sporting behaviour and running away from
the good fight in his matches)

like i have mentioned several times before on these pages, when i want to sit
down and enjoy a relaxing game of chess ,give me a nice wooden board, with nice
pieces and a decent playing program and i am a happy camper
no mouse and computer screen for me..thank you very much

oh and the Dgt board is still not totally independent of the computer
if you want to see the remaining clock times or even the computers evaluation of
the position you are still clicking away with the mouse, squinting at the pc
screen

Best Regards
Steve
