I received the following message from the Chessbase help desk:
Dear Mr. Durrett,
In order to get the Shredder7.04 engine for the Fritz8 GHUI and ChessBase
8.0 you must login with your account to the playchess.com server and
----------run the online upgrade through menu Help / Querry Upgrade.
That will upgrade both the Fritz8 GUI and the Shredder Engine.
Yours sincerely,
Steffen Giehring
As I recall, I did exactly what Steffen suggests on my last attempt to install
the stuff [before receiving Steffen's email]. I don't know why I didn't do that
earlier. In too big a hurry, maybe. Like I said, I had Shredder 7.0.4 working
as an analysis engine under Chessbase 8 on my previous computer, so I knew there
had to be a way. Buying a new computer can have it's pitfalls! : )
