Go up one level in this thread

Dear ChessBase 8 programmers,

Make ChessBase an even better piece of database software. All kinds of engines
running in your interface may be fine, but doesn't interest me at all. After
all, I bought a database program, not an interface for multiple engines.

I want lightning fast search possibilities, excellent double game-detection. I
want extended database possibilities; manual sorting of databases, but also
combining sort keys already available, and defining my _own_ hierarchy; I want
better and faster export possibilities to PGN for portability; I want easy
drag-and-drop ability from the search result window into the notation window
with the _original_ game; I want all statistics in all search result windows
available; I want more flexible statistics output, everything available for
print or html, I want more flexible print possibility for repertoire output,
including trimming before printing, and html output. I want better handling of
repertoire search, like asking me if I want to truncate games I import after
move x, or like asking me in which repertoire game I want it to save instead of
a choice between "either in this game, or else in another game, otherwise you
can stuff it".
I want faster tree building from bigger databases - as databases become bigger
and bigger these days - I want an easier interface with theme key building. I
want refinement of ECO codes. I want to use more easy multiple database searches
right from the board position instead of selecting multiple databases first,
then opening the search filter, then copying the board until I forgot what I was
doing because of the long procedure. I want to manually sort my databases in the
database window.
I want a manual with EVERYTHING in it, even if over 500 pages long, not that I
stumble upon features I can't figure out what they're there for, just to find
out that their neither in the booklet, neither in the online help files.

And I want..... well, I want the best _database_ around. That's what I want. Had
I wanted an interface for dozens of engines, I bought me a chess program
interface that can handle them all. Like Fritz can already with UCI engines.
Like ChessPartner from Lokasoft that can handle UCI and Winboard as well. But I
already have them, so please stick to the database functionality and make the
CB9 a smash.

I want so much more. But please start with the above.

Thanks - these are just from me.

Jeroen
