Even at 8 ply or (any ply), you have no idea about how the program is extending.
 Try limiting Crafty to 1 ply and then look at it supply a move vector of 3 or 4
plys.  I assume this is due to extensions or q-search or whatever.  This is why
ply comparisons aren't that useful, unless it's two versions of the same
program, maybe.
