Well, your theory has held up so far. I played 50 1/0 games between Crafty 18.15
and Yacd PB, then repeated the match, replacing Crafty 18.15 with the MPC
version.

Default Crafty dominated.

crafty-18.15    40.5 / 50
Yace Paderborn   9.5 / 50


After replacing Crafty with the MPC version, it was a complete turn around.

Yace Paderborn  33.5 / 50
crafty18-15mpc  16.5 / 50


1/0 games are a bit extreme, but it's a good staring point, and I'll start to
run some at longer time controls and see if the MPC version does better.
