respectfully Terry, 'why not?' is neither a useful nor concrete answer. some times USB controller chips on motherboards do not behave like other USB controller chips. I can cite the case of using Microsoft Flight Simulator with the special 'Force-FeedBack' USB controlled joystick ( which allows one to feel the air plane shake, resistance on turns, etc.) Microsoft's drivers do not respond well to the VIA usb controller and never have. Buting the fancier joystick then becomes a waste of an extra fifty bucks.
