Many people would probably >just stop coming to that club, and I'd probably have a group of chess players >waiting to gang tackle me outside after a few months of this. yes ...you are right , people don't have to go tothe club to get smashed by computers - they now can do it in the privacy of their own home...computers playing in tournaments (for the most part) is dead ...only GM's (mostly) can deal with strong programs on fast computers ...the rest of us are mere mortals ...I would like to see the top 10 GM's play a double rould robin with the top 10 programs - say Shredder, Fritz , Tiger, Rebel, Junior, The King, HIARCS, Ruffian and let's add old faithful Crafty into the mix and maybe the lengendary Genius 3 program by Richard Lang...all running the same hardware - maybe a bunch of dual 3 Ghz machines ...where's our sponsor - maybe Intel or Dell would sponsor this ...we know IBM will not..
