Go up one level in this thread

I put some results together (only for the crafty Spec test) and compared them to
some Spec.org results:

SPECint_base2000 for 186.crafty

RT = Reference Time
BT = Base Runtime
BR = Base Ratio

                                     C                      RT            BT
        BR
G5 Dual 2Ghz	            gcc3.3		     1000	     94.8	     1055        V
Dell Precision 650 	    gcc3.3*		     1000	     103	      969         V
Dell Precision 650	    Intel C++ 6.0    1000	     83.9	     1192        S   b)
Athlon MP 2600+         Intel C++ 5.0.1 1000	     82.2	     1217        S

Specint_rate_base200 for 186.crafty

BC = Base Copies
BT = Base Runtime
BR = Base Ratio

                                     C                        BC      BT
    BR
G5 Dual Ghz		    gcc3.3		        2	94.3		24.6	          V
Dell Precision 650	    gcc3.3*		        2	104		22.3	          V
Dell Precision 650	    Intel C++ 6.0	2	84.7		27.4           S   b)
Athlon MP 2600+         Intel C++ 5.0.1	2	84.4		27.5	          S

Dell Precision 650 Dual Pentium 4 Xeon, 3.06 Ghz each, 512K L2 cache, 2GB ram
* running RedHat Linux 9.0 Prof
b runnig Windows XP Professional
AMD with MSI K7D Master Motherboard
V tested by Verites
S tested by Spec

Xeon 3.06 Ghz gcc3.3 roughly 8% slower than G5
Xeon 3.06 Ghz Intel C++ roughly 12% faster than G5

For me it looks quite equal. Assuming the IBM compiler would be 20% faster, the
Dual G5 would get a base ratio of 1266.
But I will get my hands on one of those G5s anyway, because OSX ist the best OS
and Xcode is a great developper environment.

Andy
