in matchs between engines , I use now 50 min for 100 moves , and so ( with 15"
by move ) I have no more problems of time control
Maybe you know the origin of time control at 40 moves:
I hold it from Tartakover : the tounaments begin at 14 hours ; with time
control at 40 moves , adjournement takes place before 19 , and so players may
have dinner ; on play grounds , he thought 60 moves would be more logical , as
40 moves are often the key point of the game
there was no objective reason to resume this rule for engines that don't need
to have dinner!
