I think that pruning is not a good idea when your target is to solve a game. the only simple logical pruning is pruning in the first move because it is clear that a3 and h3 lead to the same result. I believe that better order of moves and better evaluation is the way to go if you want to solve it without hash table. Better evaluation can evaluate winning position before the final win and save you search of stupid lines. Uri
