After noticing a number of users asking about Rebel's revolutionary Anti-GM
technique, and the misinformed opinions of the forum's experts, I have decided
to explain once and for all what it is.
It follows the precepts of Ruy Lopez with some modernized additions of
Schroeder's. Ruy Lopez in his somewhat outdated book suggested among other
things to angle the board so that the sun would glare in the opponent's eyes.
naturally if you are playing against a machine there is little possibility of
this.
So what happens is Rebel slowly begins to darken the screen until the
Grandmaster, realizing that he is squinting, begins to increase the Contrast and
Brightness controls of the monitor, then suddenly the screeen will go all white
producing a flash that effectively blinds the opponent temporarily. If it works
as intended, by the time the GM's vision has cleared up, Rebel will have won on
time.
A secondary effect is to administer small electric shocks through the mouse, a
technology first developed by the CIA, and subsequently borrowed by Ed, which
will unsettle the opponent enough to have him play weaker moves, sometimes
playing a shorter move so as not to have to handle the mouse for a prolonged
legth of time.
Last, small messages flash across the screen at speeds the eye cannot properly
register but that the brain does (Yes, subliminal) tell the opponent to
sacrifice his queen.
Nevertheless, Ed assures us that his initial plan, to flash his account number
and how much to deposit in it was rejected eventually for ethical reasons.
I cannot stay any longer now, as the library will only allow me limited use of
this computer. If you wish further info I can be reached in the nearest shelter
since my funds were inexplicably transfered from my account, though the bank
assures me that it is NOT due to a hacker.
