I bought one awhile back. Its bewteen 2x and 3x faster than Novag Sapphire II
which I also have.

It has one or more errors in its book, meaning that if you play certain opening
book moves (one that I know for shure) the Star Diamond will display 'ERROR'.

I also noted that if you set up a chess position for it to analyze with white to
move and white is in-check (and can move out of check) the Star Diamond will
display 'ERROR' and erase the board (erasing the board is a nice touch).

Its quality is fair. The plastic chess pieces are pretty cheap.

It interfaces well to a PC using Hypertermanal.

The zippered carrying pouch for the chess board is very nice.

It plays good chess for a dedicated unit. I played it against Ruffian 1.0.1 on
an Athlon running 1.7 Ghz. Ruffian spanked Star Diamond (no suprize here since
Ruffian is running on a machine thats more than 85 times faster).
