The question is now if the Rxd5 is justified? > Well, if you spend some time going down the various branches (variations) I think you'll find that White gets a "+/-" advantage by force after that sacrifice, whereas White's advantage (if any) seems a lot smaller if he does NOT do the sacrifice.
