I would be really amazed if they're in the shops for decent prices any soon. In theory intel could do it, but i doubt they will. If they press a few pallets with cpu's i bet only a few will do 3.4Ghz + 3 MB L3. Further see how A64 single cpu completely annihilated them. 1 cpu A64 2.4Ghz : 149k nps 1 cpu P4 3.4Ghz EE : 100k nps Only when you run diep dual it's a bit faster than 100k nps at the P4. Is that a fair compare? I bet not. Parallel loss etc, you should count that too, to start with! DIEP is 100% same speed at the P4 3.4Ghz EE chips like the P4 3.4Ghz C chips. L3 cache doesn't impress much with just 350MB hashtable already. The reason for that emergency solution of intel is very clear. They wanted to get a few % faster in a few games tested by Johan de Gelas. Best regards, Vincent
