Given that the 2.2 Ghz Athlon 64 FX 51 is essentially a rebadged Opteron at a higher clock, it seems that the regular Athlon 64 is tiny bit quicker clock for clock for most purposes. Perhaps this explains why a 2.2 Ghz Athlon 64 was not released yet? They didn't want it to cannibalize sales of the Athlon 64 FX 51.
