Someone once did this experiment and posted the results here, I don't remember
exactly but it was measurable.

I seem to remember (was it Uri?) who concluded doubling the hash was worth about
8 elo. But I only vaguely remember these numbers, and I'd not be at all
surprized if it also turned out to be time dependent.
