If X hundred people don't have an answer as individuals it is not going to emerge through pooling that ignorance. I would _guess_ that the reason is that the authors prefer to work on their programs rather than on what is (in effect) marketing and PR - concentrating on what they do well is a good thing - but I don't speak for anyone apart from myself.
