You could try it yourself, but here's the answer: the engines are solely for
analysis. It can load two engines at once, but the point of that is to give a
second opinion; the engines cannot be played against each other sensibly*. It
can also allow any number of engines to be loaded, one at a time and at your
direction, to analyse the same position.

* Of course one could create an engine-engine game by loading Engine A, wait for
its move, play it, load Engine B, wait, play, load engine A, wait, play ..., but
that would be a _really_ awkward way to play a game!
