I started out playing chess seriously with the radio shack 2150 (I am assuming
this is the model you refer to?). At first I thought it was a Master(laugh!).
Actually it was quite helpful to me , taking me from a novice to a C player. I
would rate it at about 1850 at 40/2. The problem is it has a very , very
computer like still and one can easily perdict it's moves, or simply give it a
pawn and you win easily. In essense it does not have the smarts of modern
programs. As I graduated to more sophiscated chess software I discovered that
the radio shacks play is quite childish!! But I would reccomend it to the
beginner without reservations, it has many nice features.
